Chris Skidmore: Closing Frenchay Hospital is Madness

Despite planning to impose 33,000 more houses in South Gloucestershire, Labour is continuing with its disastrous plan to downgrade Frenchay Hospital.

Under Labour Frenchay will lose its’ A&E department, over 500 beds and specialist departments.

Chris Skidmore has pledged to step up the fight locally to save Frenchay. In comparison, Labour locally has decided to back their party, rather than Frenchay, and downgrade the hospital.

Chris said “The original decision to downgrade it was disastrously wrong but for Labour to press ahead, whilst at the same time planning a population explosion with 33,000 new houses, is nothing short of madness. Where does Labour think these people will go to hospital? The Government must review its attack on Frenchay urgently.”

Chris is launching a new campaign to bring people together from across South Gloucestershire, as together we can show Gordon Brown that people do care about their local services and cutting them further is not an option.

“Local people in Kingswood put up a fantastic campaign to save Cossham hospital from Labour’s cuts and we can do it again” Chris said “It is not too late to save Frenchay either. Saving our treasured hospital is something we cannot give up on as a community – please sign my petition today!”
