Chris Skidmore MP raises Kingswood unemployment
with the Chancellor of the Exchequer
8th June 2010
New MP for Kingswood, Chris Skidmore, used his first question in the House of Commons during Treasury Questions to raise the issue of unemployment in Kingswood with the Chancellor of the Exchequer.
Chris, who set up and ran the Kingswood Jobs club in order to help local people back into work, told the House:
"In my constituency of Kingswood the number of people claiming Job Seekers Allowance has increased by 147% in the past five years."
Relating the issue of rising unemployment with the budget deficit, he added:
"Does the Chancellor agree that unemployed people in Kingswood will be best served by decisive action to tackle Labour's legacy of debt now?"
