Chris Skidmore MP elected to Health Select Committee
24th June 2010
New MP for Kingswood Chris Skidmore has been elected by his fellow MPs to sit on the Health Select Committee in the House of Commons.
The Committee’s role is to hold the Government and the NHS accountable to the public examining expenditure, administration and policies associated with Health in the UK.
Chris said on his election, “One of the biggest issues locally is the NHS, from the downgrading of Frenchay by the last government and the on going changes to Cossham Hospital to the new facilities at the Emersons Green Treatment Centre.
I promised local people that I would stand up for them locally and in Parliament. By being elected to the Health Select Committee, I will be able to help shape the future of the NHS and ensure that local residents get the service they deserve.”
