CONSERVATIVE PARTY CHAIRMAN ERIC PICKLES
VISITS HANHAM HIGH STREET
30th March 2010
Chairman of the Conservative Party, Eric Pickles, visited Hanham last week in support of Prospective MP, Chris Skidmore.
Eric and Chris spent time on a walk along Hanham High Street, listening to local residents' concerns. Chris also spent time briefing Eric on the current situation of the Kleeneze Factory Site, which recently had another application to build a Tescos supermarket there turned down.
Chris said:
'It was great to show Eric the local area, especially Hanham High Street. I'm determined to keep our local High Streets in business and to fight for the interests of small businesses, which is why it was good to listen to their concerns. I recently fought the application to build a new Tesco supermarket in Hanham, which I believe would kill off our local shops. As a result of the fantastic work of local councillors, tradesmen and residents, we can keep Hanham High Street thriving'.
