Dear Mr Skidmore

Acknowledgement of Core Strategy Issues and Options Representation

Thank you for your emailed petition response to South Gloucestershire Council's recent consultation on the 'Core Strategy Issues and Options Document'.

All comments received will be taken into consideration in preparing the 'Preferred Options' document, which is the next stage in producing the Core Strategy. This is currently scheduled to begin public consultation in January/February 2009.   This document will set out the Council's proposals for sustainably managing growth and pressure for change in South Gloucestershire, including specific proposals for the location of new urban extensions.

You may also be interested to note that the Secretary of State's Modifications to the Regional Spatial Strategy are due to be published shortly. This report will set out the Minister's proposals for the overall scale of development to be provided in South Gloucestershire. There will be an opportunity for public comment on these proposals - probably over a twelve week period during August, September and October. Further details will be available on the Government Office for the South West website www.gosw.gov.uk.

Your continued participation in contributing and engaging with us in this important work is much appreciated.   If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me or other members of the Spatial Plans team.

Yours faithfully

Patrick Conroy
