Chris' Survey reveals majority of Hanham
residents reject Tescos

8 May 2009

Prospective Conservative MP for Kingswood Chris Skidmore has conducted a major survey of local Hanham residents over the proposed Tesco supermarket on the Kleeneze Factory site in Hanham.

The results of the survey, completed by hundreds of local people, showed that 60% of residents were against the supermarket, while 64% believed that it would make traffic in Hanham much worse. Chris has now submitted the
survey as part of a report into the ongoing planning application.

Chris is standing up for local residents and believes in supporting local Hanham businesses and shops, especially during the current recession.

Revealing the results of the survey, Chris said:

'There are serious questions to be asked about the proposed Tesco site in Hanham. I am very concerned about how this might impact local residents nearby.

"A major survey of Hanham residents I conducted showed that local people do not want a Tescos in their backyard and believe that it will damage the local community, impacting on local stores and increase traffic. While new jobs in the area are welcome, the results of the survey indicate that a new Tescos would do nothing to improve the lives of residents."
