As someone who was born and grew up locally, Chris understands just how important our green spaces are for the community.
Working alongside local Councillors, Chris has regularly campaigned to protect and safeguard the Greenbelt from speculative development, and most recently has welcomed the fact that the highest number of new homes ever, including affordable, are being built across South Gloucestershire brownfield sites, protecting our local green spaces.
Chris has also welcomed recent investment into local parks, play areas and green spaces across our communities, which are being improved as part of £9 million package of investment.
Greenbank Road play area in Hanham has recently had a £60,000 makeover confirmed following campaigning by the local MP and campaigning team. Play equipment is being improved Coronation Park in Cadbury Heath, Shellards Road in Longwell Green and Siston Hill youngsters are continuing to enjoy their new play area.
Repeating the success of the lottery bid to improve Page Park, a new lottery bid is being worked up for a Commons improvement project, which will focus on supporting the biodiversity and heritage of our local Common land.
Extra planning protections have also been granted to hundreds of green spaces across the area to stop them from being built on.
