As the local MP, Chris has long been aware of local residents’ concerns about the Wraxall Road roundabout on the Avon Ring Road, and along with local Councillors and campaigners, he has consistently raised these concerns and pushed for a solution to the issues of congestion and traffic jams residents have experienced for many years.
Following Chris’ campaigns, a £6.9 million scheme to improve the roundabout is now being considered, with the planned changes expected to reduce delays and improve traffic flows at peak times, easing congestion and queues which are currently affecting local residents, drivers, as well as public transport users.
Chris said of the scheme: “As someone who has long pushed for such improvements, I am very pleased that work on this ambitious scheme is now underway as it will benefit local commuters and residents, and is part of a package of improvements to our local transport infrastructure which will help reduce collision and improve traffic in our community.
South Gloucestershire Council has recently launched a consultation seeking views on the proposed changes, and I hope residents and local drivers have had the chance to have their say on this key improvement scheme for our area.”
