Chris meets local farmers and NFU to discuss fly tipping

Chris Skidmore MP and local farmers meet to discuss crackdown on fly tipping

Chris Skidmore MP recently met with several local farmers and the National Farmers Union to discuss several concerns they have at the amount of fly tipping in Upton Cheyney.

At the meeting held at the Upton Cheyney Chilli Farm farmers detailed the recent spate of fly tipping and the detrimental impact it has on the local area. It was also agreed at the meeting that a fly tipping neighbourhood watch could be set up to help monitor the area and ensure incidents are reported as soon as possible.

Chris said, "This is a big problem in the lanes surrounding Upton Cheyney and Beach and I was pleased when a recent case reported by the owner of the Chilli Farm, Dave Hawkins, resulted in a prosecution and fine. At the meeting with the NFU and local farmers we agreed that the setting up of a Neighbourhood Watch could help police the situation and I would urge anyone who would like to get involved to contact my office on 0117 9081524"

"This is a real problem in our community and I will continue to work with local farmers and the NFU to do all I can to help combat this issue."
