Local MP Chris Skidmore recently met with Post Office representatives to discuss concerns which have been raised with him regarding the consultation on the future of the Crown Post Office in Kingswood.
The Post Office have launched a review of their services and are currently considering moving facilities into the WHSmith in Kingswood Shopping Centre in order to give customers a better service. At the meeting the Post Office detailed that Kingswood was seeing a decline in the number of visitors so the review was aimed at making the service available to more people in a better location.
Chris has written to thousands of local residents and emailed hundreds more to ask them for any concerns they may have with the proposed move. Many residents have already been in touch with Chris, but those who have not have until the 16th November to contact him before the Post Office's consultation closes.
“I was delighted that the Post Office agreed to meet with me to discuss the proposals for Kingswood. As the local MP, I want to make sure all voices are heard regarding the planned move. I have been reassured that the relocation will result in no job losses, and I have sought reassurance that the number of tills open will be the same as at present, while disabled access must also be taken into account. I was pleased that the Post Office listened to my concerns. Local people can still contribute to the consultation that closes on 16 November.”
“I believe it is important that no services are lost and residents are not disadvantaged by this move and I would urge any other resident with concerns to add to the consultation as well”
The consultation closing date is 16th November 2016 with the potential for a move to take place in the New Year.
