The MP for Kingswood is encouraging local businesses to enter this year’s Best Small Shops Competition, which celebrates the central role small shops play in the local community. Shopkeepers in Kingswood can nominate their businesses until Friday 11th September.
The Competition aims to promote small businesses and this year’s event is more important than ever to help celebrate independent shops and the part they play in supporting the response and recovery of the local economy from Covid-19.
The contest is now returning for its fifth year and Chris is calling on independent retailers across his constituency to apply for a chance to win one of the five awards, with results to be announced via video this November.
The Best Small Shops Competition is open to any small shop operating in the UK, and is free to enter. All shops who do enter will also benefit from promotion to consumers through an online Indie Retail Directory.
The judges will be looking for evidence of a small shops’ entrepreneurial spirit, ways that they have been innovative in their business and what they have done to have a lasting positive impact on their community.
Chris said: “Small independent shops are the lifeblood of our High Streets and town centres and their successes and efforts deserve to be recognised. I am encouraging our excellent small shops in Kingswood to nominate themselves for the chance to be celebrated for the vital role they play in our local community.”
Entries are now open, and business owners can take part by submitting their details at: www.bestsmallshops.co.uk. Further guidance for businesses can also be found at: https://www.indieretail.uk/best-small-shops/
