A local company based near Kingswood High Street recently welcomed Chris Skidmore MP on a visit last month, with the local MP given a tour of Stage Style Costumes on Soundwell Road.
The Kingswood-based business was founded by local South Gloucestershire resident Melody Lewis and first opened its doors in 2012. The company specialises in stage costumes for musicals, comedies and drama, as well as vintage fancy dress for events and special occasions. This small business has supplied costumes for many local drama groups and theatres as well as branching out to provide their services across the UK and even Europe.
The MP’s visit to the local Kingswood company comes as the town and its High Street are set to benefit from exciting redevelopment projects including £3m of investment for local roads and street cleaning, with around £500,000 of funding already released to support the regeneration of the town.
Chris said: “I was delighted to visit Stage Style Costumes, a one of a kind company based in Kingswood in our constituency. I was pleased to be able to speak with a local business owner to discuss the opportunities and challenges facing small businesses in the area, and the company’s continued success.”
Owner Melody Lewis was pleased to welcome Chris Skidmore MP to her unit. Melody said: “It’s been great to see Chris out and about and engaging with businesses especially one as unique to the area as Stage Style Costumes. It was hard work starting from scratch however South Gloucestershire Council’s approach to business rates really helped us.”
