A notorious litter-strewn part of Longwell Green has been cleaned up as part of the Spring Clean campaign.
Kingswood MP Chris Skidmore led a team of councillors who litter picked a notorious footpath between Asda’s Longwell Green store and the Aspects Leisure Park.
The effort was launched as part of South Gloucestershire Council’s Spring Clean campaign.
Chris Skidmore said: “Our fantastic communities here in South Gloucestershire can often be blighted by litter strewn across our roads, parks and highways. It would be a great thing for our area if we all thought about the impact dropping litter can have and the time and resources it could save our community in clean up days and costs.
The level of litter along this stretch of footpath has been a particular local concern and so I was pleased to lead a team to clean the area up. The team collected 10 bags of rubbish.”
Longwell Green Councillor and Deputy Council Leader Toby Savage added:
“Our 2018 Spring Clean campaign is underway and we want to make it the biggest yet, with more community groups and individuals joining in than ever before. The council can provide free bin bags, gloves, and the necessary equipment to help make picking up litter easier. These efforts come on top of additional resources the council is investing to combat littering.”
