Local MP backs campaign supporting Hanham High Street

Local MP Chris Skidmore has joined other residents, business owners and traders in Hanham in celebrating the local High Street. The MP was delighted to back the “Love Hanham High Street” campaign, which aims at promoting stores, independent shops and businesses in Hanham.

The local High Street has long been a favourite among Hanham residents and visitors alike, seen as the heart of the community, with its diverse collection of High Street favourites and independent shops such as florist’s, coffee shops, hairdresser’s, pubs and gift shops, among many more.

Recent events and initiatives such as the Christmas Fair, packed with stalls, entertainment and activities for all, have helped raise the profile of the High Street locally and across South Gloucestershire. And with the very first Easter Egg Hunt and Summer Fair a great success this past year, and a Pumpkin Trail planned for this Autumn, there is plenty for residents to be excited about.

Now the “Love Hanham High Street” campaign promises to provide a platform for residents, shop-owners and families across the area to show their support for these initiatives and to celebrate the High Street’s success. The locally-led initiative is being welcomed by the Hanham MP and by residents, and it is hoped will help raise awareness of the benefits shopping locally brings to the community.

Chris Skidmore, whose Office at number 60 is now proudly displaying a “Love Hanham High Street” sticker, said: “As a local man and someone who is proud to have an office on the High Street, I am delighted to support this initiative to celebrate our amazing local shops and small businesses. “Love Hanham High Street” are doing a fantastic job and I look forward to seeing the campaign grow as more residents get involved”.

Residents are being encouraged to get involved with the campaign and show their support by taking pictures on the High Street or sharing a story about a local business on social media. For more information, visit www.facebook.com/LoveHanhamHighStreet/.
