Local MP brings more constituents up to Parliament with regular Tour

Chris Skidmore MP recently welcomed more residents from Emersons Green and Longwell Green to the Houses of Parliament, thanks to the regular Tours of Parliament which he organises for local residents of Kingswood.

Local people were given a first-hand experience at the heart of British Democracy as part of a tour of Westminster organised by the local MP. The trip marks Chris’ latest Tour of Parliament initiative, and the second one so far in 2020.

Local residents met in the Emersons Green area on Wednesday morning to board the coach organised by the Member of Parliament for Kingswood. Over 50 residents enjoyed a guided tour of the Palace of Westminster, tracing some of the steps of Her Majesty the Queen at the State Opening of Parliament. After a well-earned rest and quick break, residents made their way to a Committee Room, where they met with Chris and had a Q&A session, giving local people the chance to discuss their concerns with the MP directly.

Preparations are currently underway for more tours to take place this year, with Chris reiterating his enthusiasm for continuing these events. The MP said: “It is a very special experience to visit the epicentre of our great democracy and I am very pleased to continue to be able to reach out to local residents in arranging an event like this, and to give constituents the chance to discuss any concerns with me here in Parliament as well."

More tours are planned for 2020 for different areas of the constituency, and more details will be sent out as soon as possible to local residents.
