The local MP for Kingswood Chris Skidmore has pledged his support for this year’s national September litter-picking drive, by taking part in litter picks planned for the Kingswood constituency in Emersons Green, Longwell Green and Barrs Court.
The “Great British September Clean” campaign runs between 11 - 27 September and was launched by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy, and had to be postponed in March due to the Coronavirus situation.
The initiative brings together many residents and representatives from the local community each year, all taking action to clear up our streets, parks, beaches and green and residential spaces around the Constituency and throughout the UK.
This year, the charity is encouraging everyone to take part in small, socially distanced clean-ups to remove litter and clean up the country.
Chris said: “I am delighted to take part in this brilliant clean-up initiative and help keep our local area tidy and tackle littering. This year’s campaign is particularly important as it will help bring people together again for a good cause, helping Kingswood look its best.
I have been supporting litter picks throughout Kingswood ever since I became an MP and I am glad to once again be able to take part in this year’s campaign and join other local people in helping to make a difference and take positive action for the environment locally.”
